Second translocation to Maputo Special Reserve

On Friday, 5 August 2011, 24 zebras from Ithala Game Reserve in South Africa, were successfully introduced to Maputo Special Reserve in Mozambique. The operation ended at about 7.00 pm.

This follows on the first ever translocation that took place in September 2010. The wildlife translocations scheduled over the next number of years, will be the primary step in developing Maputo Special Reserve as a tourist destination, as it will enable the fast recovery and subsequent increase of its wildlife populations.
