Peace Parks joins the People’s Postcode Lottery family

Peace Parks Foundation is deeply grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their ongoing support, enabling another step closer towards #NatureWithoutBorders.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised an incredible GBP 1 million for Peace Parks Foundation which we can use to restore nature and build the resilience of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

What makes this particularly meaningful is that the funding is flexible, so Peace Parks can use the money where it is needed most. “We have been working with people living in southern Africa’s transboundary landscapes for many years and understand what it takes to build a positive relationship between humans and nature. A key factor is to design initiatives from the ground up, relying on communities’ deep cultural knowledge of the landscapes. It is so important to be flexible and able to respond to immediate and unforeseen needs, especially with the effects of climate change felt most directly by vulnerable communities. This funding enables us to do exactly that.” Jamie McCallum, Peace Parks Foundation Director: UK and EU.

Peace Parks Foundation is working towards securing 980,000 km2 of natural landscapes by 2050, where people live healthy and productive lives and where wildlife has the freedom to thrive. This funding has enabled a giant leap forward, and the Peace Parks team is deeply grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for making this possible.
