Every protected landscape has a visible story: wildlife returning, communities building resilience, and rivers, forests and grasslands better protected. But behind that visible progress is another story: one of trust, flexible funding and the players who make long-term conservation possible.
In 2026, Peace Parks Foundation received extraordinary flexible support from three long-standing Postcode Lottery Group partners: SEK 7 million from the Postcode Lottery Sweden, GBP 1 million from Postcode Lottery UK, and EUR 1.5 million in operational support from Postcode Lottery Netherlands. Dedicated project support from Postcode Lottery Germany is also helping fund an environmental DNA biodiversity assessment in Malawi’s Nyika National Park to strengthen understanding of the park’s rich species diversity.
This kind of long-term, flexible support is especially valuable because it strengthens the organisational capacity that makes conservation delivery possible. It helps fund the specialist staff, systems and operational support that are often hardest to secure but are essential for keeping complex, multi-country conservation programmes running effectively. It advances Peace Parks’ work to protect and restore large, connected landscapes where people and nature can thrive together, supporting biodiversity, climate resilience, water security, sustainable livelihoods and long-term regional stability.
This support also contributes to the work of the Southern African Wildlife College and SA College for Tourism and, through Postcode Lottery UK, helps mobilise catalytic investment through the Partners4Nature Fund.
In Zimbabwe’s Greater Mana Pools Ecosystem, additional support from Postcode Lottery Netherlands is investing in local conservation talent, helping skilled practitioners grow and lead in one of the country’s most important protected landscapes. In Malawi’s Nyika National Park, support from Postcode Lottery Germany is helping to build a stronger science base for conservation through innovative, non-invasive biodiversity monitoring using water and soil samples. The findings will help inform biodiversity monitoring, conservation planning, anti-poaching strategies and sustainable natural resource use in this globally significant landscape.
