KAZA TFCA Univisa Now In Effect

In a major step to enhance tourism to the world’s largest terrestrial transfrontier conservation area, the governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe are today launching the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) TFCA univisa.

The Ministers of Home Affairs and tourism representatives from both countries will officiate at the launching event which will take place at the Victoria Falls Bridge later today. The univisa will be effective as of today.

What is the univisa?
The KAZA univisa is a common tourist visa for the SADC region which will be piloted by Zambia and Zimbabwe for six months. After the pilot period, the univisa is intended to be rolled out to three other KAZA partner countries, namely Angola, Botswana, and Namibia.

In time, more countries in the SADC (Southern African Development Community) region are expected to join in the univisa initiative.

Zambia and Zimbabwe were selected to pilot the KAZA univisa following their successful co-hosting of the 20th session of the UN World Tourism Organisation General Assembly in August 2013, where such a visa facilitated the seamless border crossing of delegates between the two countries.

The univisa will be valid at eight ports of entry:

Zambia

• KK International Airport, Lusaka
• Harry Mwaanga International Airport, Livingstone
• Victoria Falls Border
• Kazungula Border

Zimbabwe

• Harare International Airport
• Victoria Falls International Airport
• Victoria Falls Border
• Kazungula Border

Univisa Fees
The univisa will be issued at a standard fee of US$50.
