On 9 February 2012, Peace Parks Foundation was the very fortunate recipient of €1.35 million from the Dutch Postcode Lottery at its Goed Geld Gala in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
The Lottery, which is the largest charity lottery in the Netherlands, contributes 50% of its annual profit to carefully selected charities concerned with development cooperation, human rights, conservation, the environment and social cohesion. Thanks to the 2.5 million Lottery participants, charities can not only continue their important work, but also start up new projects.
The Dutch Postcode Lottery is one of the Novamedia charity lotteries, which the UK City AM Guide to Givers recently announced as the third largest private donor in the world, having paid out over €4 billion to good causes since its inception in 1989.
Since Peace Parks Foundation became one of the Postcode beneficiaries in 2002, it has received over €12 million, a very major contribution towards the development of southern Africa’s peace parks.
Peace Parks Foundation is very grateful to be one of the Dutch Postcode Lottery’s now 85 beneficiaries, who this year received a record amount of €284 million from the 2011 revenues, and commends the Lottery for its role in bettering the lives of people and nature.
