A new CEO for Peace Parks Foundation

Mr Werner Myburgh has been appointed as the new CEO of Peace Parks Foundation, as of 1 April 2008. He takes over from Prof Willem van Riet, who retires as CEO but has been appointed as Vice-Chairman: International Relations responsible for fundraising and providing support to specialist projects such as GIS and park planning. Prof Van Riet has been a tireless and courageous leader at the Foundation’s helm for the past eight years and has played a significant role in leading the Foundation from a fledgling organisation to the important role-player in TFCA development that it is today.

Mr Myburgh has been with the Foundation since 1998, previously as COO and before that as Project Manager, where he oversaw the implementation of over 200 transfrontier conservation area (TFCA) projects. As such, he has been part of the corps that has been assisting governments in the development of the Kgalagadi, Lubombo, Maloti-Drakensberg, Great Limpopo, Malawi/Zambia, /Ai /Ais-Richtersveld, Limpopo/Shashe and Kavango Zambezi TFCAs.
