Nyika TFCA Construction Team
The Nyika TFCA Construction Team will construct two dams, one inside the northern perimeter, on the Zambian side and one outside the northern perimeter, also on the Zambian side. These dams will provide permanent water for the animals inside the sanctuary and will be constructed in the same manner as the dam constructed in the southern part of the Sanctuary, on the Malawian side in 2007. The dam on the outside of the northern perimeter is to prevent animals on the outside of the Sanctuary from challenging the fence in order to get to the water source. Both dams will be supplied from a solar borehole, as is the case with the southern perimeter dam. The Nyika TFCA Construction Team has completed ten staff houses at the BZS. The construction of the final two houses as well as the proposed dams, have been delayed due to vehicle breakdowns and the extension of the 2008 budget into March 2009.
