PEACE PARKS PROGRAMMES
The programmes differ from the projects in that they encompass more than one peace park and rather include many, if not all southern Africa's TFCAs. The Climate Change Programme, TFCA Veterinary Programme and Ecosystem Services are run by Peace Parks Foundation, whereas Boundless Southern Africa was launched and is run by nine southern African countries. They all set out to achieve the best not only for the region's TFCAs, but also for the partner countries and its people.|Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
Sendelingsdrift Tourist Access Facility & Pontoon
On the same day, the ministers for the Environment from the two countries officially commissioned the restored pontoon that allows visitors to cross the Orange River.
"This pontoon symbolises joint approaches to tourism across a shared border," said Minister Konjore of Namibia. "We are no longer planning tourism country by country. We are looking at regional tourism planning and seeing how best we can harness it for the benefit of all".
The fully operational pontoon has created a tourist access facility between Namibia and South Africa which has shortened the route between the two sections of the transfrontier park by almost 500 km.
