Nyika TFCA World Bank Project Project Coordinator

Mr Humphrey Nzima | people [© 2009 Peace Parks]Mr Humphrey Nzima, the previous Malawi-Zambia Coordinator, has been appointed as the Project Coordinator for the Nyika TFCA World Bank Project. Mr Nzima will be responsible for overall development of the Nyika Foundation, the development of sustainable financing options and the design of the project.


Mr Nzima was the International Coordinator for the Malawi-Zambia Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) from 2004 to 2007.


His conservation career spans more than 25 years and includes various senior positions in Malawi's Department of National Parks and Wildlife, the last being that of Deputy Director (1997 - 2004).


His fields of expertise include the following: nature conservation and wildlife management; appraisal of development projects from environmental and socio-economic perspectives; formulation of co-management agreements, projects and activities; policy formulation, interpretation and strategic planning; planning and managing public-private partnerships in protected area tourism; analysis of functions, values and threats associated with aquatic systems; and facilitating the establishment and development of TFCAs.


Mr Nzima holds the degrees MSc in Rural Resources and Environmental Policy from Wye College, University of London; BSc in Wildlife Management from Colorado State University, USA; and BSc in Biology and Psychology from the University of Malawi. He also holds a Certificate in Natural Resources Policy from Cornell University, USA.
